- I finally got a call back on my mower. It's a little worrisome when the repairman starts saying things like "Well, I've not seen this before" and "I'll have to take the engine off the block." Turns out the governor on the mower was broken, meaning it was run too high and cut itself off. Thankfully, he said it'd probably just run $40 or so, which was a lot better than I expected once those phrases started getting tossed around.
- My car got picked up. The guy came out and jumped it so he could drive it back and save me a tow charge, which was nice. However, he only came about 1:30 or so this afternoon so I've not heard back on what the problem is, how much it's going to be, etc.
- Watched three episodes of Lost last night (well, both parts of the pilot and then the first regular episode). Fairly entertaining, even if I know a few general things about what's going to happen. I didn't worry about staying spoiler free since I wasn't watching it, and I hope that doesn't really come back to bite me. I don't know that much, really. It was interesting to see J.J. Abrams reusing Alias actors in the series, as both Locke and the pilot of the plane spent some time with the CIA and Sydney Bristow.
Meron had an appointment with the dermatologist today, so I had lunch at the office and then went home and took care of Benjamin while she was gone. We watched the end of the Rangers/Twins game as we played on the floor. He gets fascinated with my watch, so I usually take it off and let him play with it, which is always quite entertaining. It was a great way to spend a little of my afternoon. Definitely beat working!
Cards really didn't show up to play last night. Glendon Rusch has had the Cardinals' number in the past, but he had a perfect game going into the 7th, and that's just ridiculous. But the soft-tossing lefties with high ERAs have been the bane of the Redbirds' existence for a number of years now. I'm not really sure why unless they think they should be able to hit the ball a ton and just start pressing.
The final Cards/Cub game at this incarnation of Busch Stadium is tonight and it's a heck of a pitching duel. Mark Mulder, who has been very effective of late and always good at home during night games, faces off against Hall-of-Famer-to-be Greg Maddux. Maddux, who was one of my favorite pitchers in the '90s, may be a little older, but he's still able to pitch effectively. Could be a low scoring one tonight, but I'm thinking the Cardinals pull it out.
Of course, I probably won't see much of it. Have to get these Lost episodes watched!
