There we go. The image uploader is working today, so there is your Benjamin fix!
As I type, the high school homecoming parade is going on. One of the advantages of my office is that I can sit at my desk and look out onto Main Street, which the parade marches down after staging at the grocery store basically right next to us. So we see the parade as it starts off, and I don't even have to brave the 90+ heat to do it!
Looks like it's a good one so far, though I saw a float by the "Class of '08" and got that "man, I'm old" feeling in the pit of my stomach again. It's been 13 years since homecoming was relevant to me, something that really seems hard to believe. We had our 10 year reunion at homecoming in '03, which was great, but it just boggles the mind how time goes so fast.
The parade and other related activities remind you of those high school years. While I wouldn't go back to them now for anything, there are still some good memories there. Most of my very good friends I met during my public school days and I wouldn't trade them for anything. (Well, at least most of them, on most days.) Some good times back then. Man, I may have to dig out my yearbook when I get home!
Short parade this year--only about 15 minutes. So much work put in for such a short period of time. Then again, what's not like that?
Cards start their last road series of the year this evening. Last night Morris pitched well, making the case for the postseason rotation, but the bullpen caved in. They are going to have to be a bit stronger come October. LaRussa also stated that Morris is in, but apparently Jeff Suppan's slot as #3 isn't as solidified as was being reported. Sounds like Marquis might have a chance at that, but knowing Tony, I doubt it.
Looking forward to the weekend. The rain is supposed to get here tomorrow afternoon and cool things down, so it could be a lazy weekend watching TV and playing with the boy. Poker tomorrow night, which I'm looking forward to, as always. My friend Scott from Fayetteville is going to be joining us this weekend, so it'll be good to see him and interesting to see if he can hold his own at the PPT table.
Whatever your plans are this weekend, enjoy them, but keep those in the path of Hurricane Rita in your thoughts and prayers.

I hope you don't get any more rain than you need care of Hurricane Rita. We're supposed to get wet this evening thanks to it, but the meteorologist said we could use the rain. Mind-boggling to think it will be raining in TX and MO at the same time because of this storm.
As for the Cards, the wheels look like they're coming off. Still, I gotta figure Tony will straighten the ship come NLDS time. Need to win 4 of 7 now to finish with 100. Here's hoping.
Rain was not as much as I thought (more later).
Cards: They slipped last year in Sept and still made it to the Series. Good for Carp and Mulder to get those bad outings in the regular season and not the postseason.
Okay, either you all are camera geniuses or Benjamin is the biggest camera ham I've ever seen.
What an adorable picture. :)
1) Terrific subject matter
2) A scrapbooking wife who's learn a thing or two about photography along the way
Though I think I took this one, it's been cropped and blown up.
