Friday!

The good thing about short weeks is that the weekend gets here that much faster. It's nice to know there are only a few more hours before a couple days off. Too bad the next short week is the Thanksgiving one!

Got the car back. Turns out the battery was leaking acid. Now, I'm no mechanic or not anywhere close to mechanically inclined, but to me, that just doesn't sound good. They replaced the battery and everything seems fine now. Between that and possibly getting the mower back today, my machinery problems could be over, which means something has to blow. I'm guessing the dishwasher.

Another proud father story. Yesterday, after picking up my car, Meron and Benjamin dropped me off here at the office and made their rounds, seeing Grandpa and some of the ladies that work here. I'm in my office and I hear Meron saying, "Can you find Daddy's office?" I look out and he's crawling up the hallway. He looks in someone else's office and smiles, but then keeps going until he can see me. When he does, he gets the biggest grin and then double-times it to my chair wanting to be picked up. How people don't like babies is starting to be more and more foreign to me!

Unfortunately, we are going to have to take him to the doctor today. Nothing terribly serious, he just has a bruised look to his eye and a lot of gunk in the corners and everything. He had the gunk a lot when he was a newborn and we had to put some drops in his eyes for it. Chances are it's a small eye infection or something and we can do the same this time, but since it is Friday, we wanted to the doctor to look at him before the weekend.

Benjamin also goes to his first birthday party this weekend. His friend Tyson (his dad works with me and Meron and his mom do things together occasionally) turned one last weekend and his party is tomorrow night. Not sure what he's going to think of that. Of course, that means his mom is starting to plan for his birthday party, even though it's not until November. She was going to go with JoJo's Circus after we saw it in a birthday party catalog we got, but also in that catalog was The Dog, which on their website they had a special design for a 1st birthday party in. Benjamin laughs every time he sees those pictures, so Meron's decided to go with that theme instead.

Continuing to watch Lost. We're halfway through the second disk now, and most of the spoilery stuff I knew has already happened, so I'm thinking the rest of the way should be even better. So far it's been good, though may not as addictive as I thought it would be. I've been assured it gets even better, though, so I'm looking forward to finding out.

Busy night for our household. Meron's got a Tastefully Simple party this evening at 6:30, which happens to be at the same place I'll be playing poker at 8. I plan on going early to help her out with the party. I have to earn my Twisty Grahams somehow! There's a new sauce that's mint chocolate. I'm not a big chocolate person, but when you add the mint, that's some good stuff. Dipped a Twisty Graham in it and it was a nice blend of tastes.

Hopefully poker will be as profitable as her party. (Actually, hope the party is more profitable, but I'd like both of them to be bringing in the bucks!) One of our points leaders won't be there tonight, so it'll be interesting to see how that affects the table. I'd like to at least hang on to finish third, but that more and more is becoming a pipe dream.

Cards won last night 5-0 over those Mets. Carpenter won #21 and lowered his ERA into the 2.2 range. I know Clemens has an amazing ERA, but Carpenter is in the top 5 in so many different categories, it's going to be tough for him not to win the Cy Young, I think. Still need to do the research I got started on, though.

That'll just about do it. I'll try to post a short note after Benjamin's appointment this afternoon.
