Heat Wave

Thanks for all the great comments about yesterday's post. It's nice to relay that story to people who think it's romantic and sweet and not slightly scary and pathetic. Not that I've gotten many of those type of responses, but you know how it is, you say you met someone on the internet and there's occasionally that double-take of "are you crazy?". Which is a TOTALLY different subject.

It's ridiculously hot again today. Did someone forget to tell the weather it is fall now? According to the Weather Channel, today's a record high. Lovely. At least the temps are going to fall this weekend as all the rain from Hurricane Rita washes through. And you know what that means--at least this weekend, I won't be able to mow my yard! I'm ready for some cool nights, days where you can leave the windows open, and being able for my evening drink of choice this time of year, hot chocolate.

Benjamin got back into TLC, the daycare-type thing run at the First Methodist Church in town. (It's the one my parents go to and my mother works at.) Today was his first day of it, and it at least started well--he didn't cry when Meron dropped him off. He was there this summer and at one of the two "teachers" in that group had him then, so there was a slightly familiar face for him. I've not heard yet any reports that Meron might have gotten when she picked him up a little while ago.

I've told you before how Benjamin will greet me after work. He hadn't done it much lately, since they've either picked me up from work (if Meron needed the car that the AC worked in) or he's been asleep when I get there, but the last couple of days, he's been where he can see me as I come in the door. Yesterday he was standing next to his mom and got so excited he was almost jumping, waving his arms and making happy noises, before tearing off as fast as he could to get to me. These are the things that people, especially guys, that don't want to have kids should see. It'd change their minds very quickly. (They don't need to see that he's reverted back to waking up way too many times during the night.)

BTW, I was going to put a picture of him in today, but Blogger Images doesn't seem to be working right. Maybe tomorrow!

Cards had a win last night and Lost premiered, but I saw neither due to the marriage/relationship class. Lost is on tape, though, and probably will be watched this evening. I've heard it was a good episode and so I'm looking forward to it. As for the Cards, Jason Marquis, in my mind, cemented the #4 slot in the post-season roster. That could change between now and October 2, the end of the regular season, but he's throwing very well right now, better than Matt Morris in all respects. Still, I'm guessing LaRussa will use Morris's post-season experience as a reason to have him in the rotation instead of Marquis. Hopefully it won't cost the Cards any games.

Tonight is Morris against the Reds. We'll see if he takes up the challenge that Marquis threw down last night. If he has a rough outing, even LaRussa may start leaning toward Marquis. Last game in Cincy for the year, though the Reds come to Busch for the final three games ever in that stadium. Looking forward to seeing some Cardinal offensive fireworks tonight!
