Kinda got out of the blogging habit this weekend. We stayed pretty busy and so getting on the computer was limited.
I hope that you are sitting down for this. (Really, does anyone stand up to use the computer? At least to read blogs? So I feel secure that you are seated.) Friday I took off the afternoon from work and actually mowed my front yard. Not only that, but I weedeated up front as well. I can actually see my sidewalk now! I meant to go back and shoot some Roundup on it, but I didn't get around to that. Maybe this week I can do that.
That evening, we wound up going with friends of ours to the county fair. It was a great evening for it, cool and a little breezy. However, after walking around out there (carrying Benjamin most of the time) plus the work of the afternoon, by time we left my legs were about to give out! Benjamin seemed to enjoy the animals, but after that, it was getting so far past his bedtime that he just looked worn out, and we didn't stay just terribly long after that.
After getting a haircut and a beard trim Saturday morning (so I don't look quite as much like I just wandered down from the mountains) we bundled Benjamin off to the grandparents and spend some time working on the inside of the house. We rearranged our den to put our coffee table next to the wall. It won't work as a coffee table that way, but Benjamin would tend to bump his head between the table and the couch, so this way he can pull up on it but likely not hurt himself. It also frees up a lot of room for him to get his toys out and play, which he seems to have enjoyed the last couple of days.
Benjamin's pinkeye seemed to return yesterday. We stopped giving him the drops Friday (like we were supposed to) and he was fine all weekend, but he woke up yesterday with a matted eye, etc. We got him into the doctor yesterday afternoon, and he thought (since Benjamin had some congestion) it might be sinus-related, so we got a different antibiotic and we're seeing how it goes. Looked to me this morning that it was making a difference, but we'll see if it holds.
Finished up Lost this weekend. While I don't think I enjoyed it quite as much as the wife did, it still was a very interesting show and I'm definitely looking forward to the season premiere tomorrow. I think I might be more interested to see how (if they all do) the people on the raft survive and get back to the island than what's in the hatch, though that should be some good stuff as well.
Cards clinched the NL Central this weekend, but still only split the series with the Cubbies. I don't know why they gave us so much trouble and were so bad otherwise, but that's one of those flukes. Carpenter has struggled his last couple of outings, so I hope he can right himself or the Cards will have trouble in the playoffs. If he's on, Mulder's on, and we get what you can expect out of Morris, Suppan and/or Marquis, the World Series should be the Cardinals' destination again. But there's a long way to go before then.
As for the Hogs and USC, well, suffice it to say my earlier comments prove I know nothing about football. But that's just fine with me.

HORRAY for you C! Does it feel good to finally get the yard mowed? Just in time to not have to do it anymore. Wait a minute, that sounds like a well thought out plan to me. :)
I wish I wouldn't have to do it anymore! I'm guessing it'll need to be done at least once more before I can put the mower away for the winter.
