The wife called me this morning to let me know that Benjamin is making even more progress. We have to keep the door to the office (at the house) open because our dog has her kennel in there and gets upset if she can't get to it. So, to keep Benjamin out, we put an overstuffed long pillow there that he, as yet, can't climb over. Today, he was going to the pillow and using that to stand up briefly, with only his shins touching the pillow and not really holding him up. He can't stand more than a couple of seconds, but he's starting to get there. His mom walked at roughly 11 months and I walked at a year (according to my mother this morning), so he may be walking before his November birthday, and then everything goes nuts. We thought crawling was life-changing!
No game for the Cards yesterday as they headed out to San Diego. It's kinda neat when they play the late games on the West Coast, now that we can see most every game on TV. Something unique about not having the game come on until 9:00. 'Course, that means I don't get to see it all and I wouldn't want it that way all the time, but it's a refreshing change the few times it does happen during the year.
With so many DL moves lately, the Cards are probably looking at trying to bring in some players between now and the deadline on Sunday. I'd like to see them go after Adrian Gonzalez from the Rangers. He doesn't have anywhere to play over there, and the Rangers could always use some pitching. Maybe a combo of Marquis and Lambert, something like that, would be enough. Only downside is that Gonzalez is more of a first baseman than an outfielder, though he has played the outfield. The defense might take some work.
One more week until I'm 30. Still coming to grips with that, but that's another entry.
