Another Week Begins

Monday, Monday. Never the most exciting of days, but you have to deal with it nonetheless. The good thing, for me, about Mondays is that usually we have our Promise Keeper meetings at church that night. Sometimes they get cancelled if one or more of the members can't make it (we're only about 4 strong), but it is usually a good time. We typically pick out a book and go through it chapter-by-chapter, discussing one chapter a week. The book we are in now, Charles Stanley's Discover Your Destiny, has thicker chapters so we've cut them in half to discuss. This group went to the Memphis convention last year and the Fayetteville one this year. If you are a guy and have never been to a PK rally, you definitely should check the schedule and go to one. It is a very powerful experience and you'll be glad you went.

I've talked about my son, but I've not given an update on his developmental progress. He started crawling on the Fourth of July, while my wife was on the phone with her dad. He's moving around very well now, which meant we had to close most of the bedroom doors and get a baby gate up to keep him out of the kitchen. He really can motor around, though! He has waving down pretty well also, and I swear when I left to come back to work from lunch he said something very close to "bye-bye" as he waved. He's made the "da-da" noises for quite some time, but I think he's finally figuring out that I am the da-da.

We're very proud of him. Now, if he'd just figure out the whole sleeping thing..........

Cards lost another one last night. Losing two to the Cubs is quite a bitter pill to swallow. It's eased by the fact that they lead the Cubs by 12 games, but still, having Nefhi Perez--Nefhi Perez!!--hit a slam in the 10th to beat you is a rough thing to wake up to. And I'm still wondering if Pujols's shoulder is bothering him more than he lets on, because he could have won both Saturday and Sunday's games with hits and didn't get it done, though Saturday he hit a screamer that could have been the game-tying rope if it had been a foot either way.

And the news today is that John Gall is being called up as, we gather, Larry Walker goes on the DL. I never did think that Gall was going to make it to St. Louis. He's had the numbers the last few years, but management always seemed to bring up someone else or find some reason to leave him in Memphis. He was called up last year, only to be caught on his cell phone before he caught the plane and told that things had changed and they were bringing up a pitcher. Whether they've finally changed their mind on him or are showcasing him for a trade, I don't know. But the Cards could use a shot of offense--that Marquis for Mora trade rumor floating about would be awfully nice.
