Spring is Here

Wonderful time of year. The weather is warming up, the days are getting longer, and, most importantly, baseball season starts tonight! The Indians and White Sox will start it off on ESPN2 tonight, with the rest of the teams going tomorrow or Tuesday. The Cards are in Philadelphia tomorrow. Normally, I'd be a bit perturbed. There are certain "crown jewel" franchises that should always start the season at home. The Yankees, the Red Sox, the Reds, the Cubs, and the Cardinals are at least 5 that I can think of. But since the Cards open the new Busch Stadium this year I understand the schedulers giving a week of road games to make sure the new stadium was ready for major-league consumption.

Went back to work Wednesday. It hasn't been too bad so far. I still have my therapy three times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday), so that has cut the days short some. Working yesterday was a little bit of a chore, but only mentally. Physically, nothing has been too bad as of yet. I'm getting around with a four-pronged cane now, so the progression continues.

Had our keeper league draft last night. Before the draft, it was voted to keep only 3 players next year and basically redistribute the talent. I voted against it and the more I thought about it, the more I think it's going to suck the fun out of this year for me. I have very little chance of winning this year, since I traded all my early picks and didn't make my first selection until round 8 of 12. This didn't bother me when I was doing it because I knew I had my 10 keepers that were very young and very good and I'd be reloading in '07. Now, I lose all the young talent that I had obtained and have to start over. Maybe it'll be better than I think, but right now, I'm not that excited about the 2006 rotisserie season.

Congrats are in order for my friends Robert and Wendy. They were married over a year ago, but Wendy is from the Philippines, so they've been working all this time to get her a visa. That finally came through a couple of weeks ago and, assuming everything has gone well, she arrived in San Francisco on Friday. They were going to spend a few days there before returning to Texas. We're very happy for the both of them, and look forward to meeting Wendy soon.

That's all for now. Enjoy the game tonight!

Sorry to hear about the changes to the fantasy league. I know that can be frustrating.

Most definitely. I mean, try to keep 3 out of Pujols, Santana, Felix Hernandez, Teixeria, Mauer, Sheets, Carpenter, Harden, Zimmerman, Matt Cain.....the list goes on and on!

Hey man, I am awfully sorry to hear about your injury. This is the first time I have checked back since before the end of last season. I hope nothing is getting in the way of watching the games and that everyday is met with some progress.
