A Flickering Light?

Sorry for the delay in updating, but as you know my computer time is somewhat uncertain, though I'm thinking that I should be back on Friday of this week as well. At least, I hope so.

Anyway, we appear to be hitting the home stretch. I've hit the 200-feet plateau, walking around 250 today with the platform walker. (That's the kind with the extended handles that allow you to rest your arms and hold on to handles to manuever.) I've walked with a regular walker as well, though that's closer to 25 feet or so. The left leg kicks out about as far as the right one and continues to strengthen, though there is still weakness in it. I can even sometimes stand with the walker without assistance, or at least too much.

Balance is the big thing at the moment. About the longest I can stand up straight (sans bars or walker or other devices) without starting to go over is 3 seconds, and that's a pretty rare occasion. There is still a lot of strengthening and muscle improvement that needs to happen as well, though.

The good thing is that I asked my PT if he thought I'd be out by April 1 (which is my Friends League Baseball draft, something I definitely don't want to miss) and he said he thought so, and it might be sooner. Of course, that's just a guess and could be wrong, but it is a cause for optimism.

Meron and Benjamin returned without incident last night. My mother was wonderful while they were going, getting people to do some home projects around the house (hanging ceiling fans, putting down some linoleum in front of the back door, etc.) and doing some very-needed cleaning. I know it was great for Meron to come back last night and see all of that done.

The World Baseball Classic has gotten started. I've only seen a little bit (since they've been on so early in the morning, I just got to see a little today) but it's great to have baseball on the TV. You can debate the merits of the whole WBC, but it's always good to see baseball!

I hope to be on again later this week, so check back for more updates!

Ahh, that is excellent news to read, C. So glad to hear the progress is continuing. We miss you tons, but I'm sure Meron and Benjamin will be glad to have you back, too. Keep the good news updates coming! :)
