Blogging from the Inside

Getting a little bit of computer time here in rehab so I thought I'd see if I couldn't update this thing real briefly.

Things aren't going as fast as I was hoping. It's been a week and a half and I'm still not walking or even standing. My legs have strengthened some, I think, but the knees, especially the left one, are still not locking enough, plus I still have no control over my ankles yet. The arms are strengthening, though, as well as my grip. That's a positive, at least. The tingling is still in my fingertips, but it might be a bit less than before.

Rehab has not been that bad, though. I have two sessions of physical therapy a day (45 minutes a stretch) that work on the legs. I have two sessions of occupation therapy (again, 45 minutes) that work the arms or, on every other day, gets me into the shower to be cleaned up. Occasionally, I have recreational therapy. That's what I'm doing now, actually. It's fun stuff that helps work some problem areas. Last time I taught my therapist how to play Texas Hold'em. Sad to say she just about beat me until I got a flush on the last hand.

Food's been OK, I've had a lot of visitors, and of course Meron and Benjamin are up every day. The nurses and staff are just doting on the little guy, which he's not sure exactly how to respond to. But he likes taking wheelchair rides on Daddy's lap around the rehab unit!

Anyway, thanks to all for the cards, prayers and thoughts. I appreciate it! Don't know when I'll get another computer day, but I'll try to post more then.

Ahh, I'm so glad to see activity from the land of YNOTs. I wish recovery was going as fast as you'd hoped, but at least you're progressing. Good news indeed. Keep up the get well process, we wouldn't want to have to stick you with Rod Barajas. ;-)

Hey C..sorry I haven't been around much, but I wanted to let you know that I'm thinking about you everyday. Take it from someone who went through years of rehab...patience is a must. But you knew that already, I'm sure. Keep us updated when you can, and we'll keep the homefires burnin' for ya..
