There was a lot of great stuff going on around Easter weekend. And I'd love to tell you all about it. But my wife's done a better job and she's included pictures, so there's no way I win that one. Check it out and be sure to leave comments!
Other than that, not much going on here. Had a painful poker game last Saturday, going from chip leader to out of the game in roughly 5 hands. The major problem was not listening to my gut. Joe pushed all-in with a considerable amount of chips. Russell also went all-in, but with substantially less. I look down and see AK of diamonds.
I counted it out and realized that it'd be around 70% of my chips, maybe more. I really thought about folding, because I figured it'd be a race, but with AK, you almost have to call, so I did.
Turns out Joe had AK as well, his of clubs. Russell had two cards (10-x).
The flop comes, no big deal. I see the turn is a 10, which gives Russell the pair, but I figure Joe and I will split the other--until someone notes that there are two clubs on the board.
Just as I'm saying, "Red card!", the river comes 2 of clubs, giving Joe the flush.
Needless to say, my night after that wasn't great. I finally pushed all-in with AJ, but Joe had pocket fours and the board didn't help out at all.
Not much else is going on around here. We bought Benjamin's swing set, finally. The first time we tried, they didn't have any. The second time, Meron purchased it, intending to come back later, but got home to a message that said they were wrong, they really didn't have any. Third time was the charm and the box has been sitting in our garage waiting out the weeks of rain. Sarah's "church grandpa" is supposed to be coming to put it up, perhaps even today. If so, I'm sure there will be plenty of pictures of that to put up as well.
Sarah went to the doctor yesterday. She'd been fussing a lot and running a fever. I thought it might be teething (she's drooling a lot and looks to have some more coming in) but it turned out to be an ear infection with the beginnings of strep. The antibiotic should stop it from becoming full blown. The fun part is dealing with the resulting diapers.
Baseball season starts Monday! Well, for the Cardinals at least. Quite ready for my daily watching of the Redbirds. My fantasy baseball league drafts this weekend as well. We've drafted in person most years, but almost no one could actually make it this time, so we're doing it all on line. I'm not anywhere close to ready for it, but it should be a fun time anyway.
Oh, and softball season starts in about three weeks. Get ready for those updates!
