And while we got run-ruled when they scored their 14th run in the bottom of the fifth (making it 14-2 and invoking the "12 after 5" rule), the score wasn't really indicative of how we played. We held them in the first to a couple of popups. We scored two runs in the second to take the lead, though we then gave it back. It was 4-2 going into the fourth, when a couple of costly mistakes broke the game open for them.
It might have been different if I could have caught a foul popup from the first batter of the inning. I got mainly under it (I was catching, BTW) and it glanced off my glove. I usually don't get that close to balls like that, so it was really frustrating to be that close and not catch it. And, of course, the guy then lined a double into the gap and the inning was underway.
I did go 1 for 2 last night, with a double in the second inning and a foul-tip strikeout for the last out of the fourth (and, it turned out, the game). The ump called one that I thought was quite wide a strike, which threw me off. Then I hit a foul popup that just about reached the seats. On 1-2, I took a ball, but the next pitch was high and, even though I knew better, I swung and just barely tipped it. So that leaves me 6 for 14 (.429).
We play this team again Friday night at 9, but right now we are questionable on whether we are going to have enough players available. We already know about 5 of them can't make it, which means we are really going to be pushing it.
Things are going OK at home. Meron had to go to the doctor today because her ears were bothering her. Turns out it was swimmer's ear (ironic since she won't go anywhere near water save to shower and to have a drink!) and we're hoping the drops she got will take care of it quickly.
Sarah is still going strong. She's keeping us up some at night and I swear she cries much harder and at just enough of a different pitch than Benjamin to be distressing. Still, when she's awake and happy, she's a doll. We're going to get this picture made into wallets for friends and family, I think:
And, finally, today I got to have a non-breakfast meal that wasn't pizza! Man, that stuff lasted a long time! :)

Very cute.
And if I were in town, I'd take some of that pizza off your hands.
