Plugging Along

Another week, but no major changes. The baby still isn't named, though there is a potential one that was suggested (no, Jason, not Addison Wrigley!) that I liked and she's mulling over. It's very hard for us to believe that there's just four months until the baby will be here. We plan on starting work on The Big Room Shift this weekend.

See, Benjamin is in the nursery, which is going to be needed soon. Rather than redoing another room, we are going to move him into what is now our office, which is a dark blue color that will fit for him. We're getting Thomas stuff (nightlights, wall covers, bedding, etc.) to make the room really his.

But before we do that, we have to move the computer and other stuff out of there and into our scrapbook room. It's actually half of the garage--the people before us put down linoleum, added a wall, etc. and cut their garage in half. We turned it into a scrapbook/junk room, but now we have to clear it out (including my red couch from college--those that were with me in Fayetteville know what I'm talking about) so we can get the computer desk and everything in there. (Plus we'll need to add a cable or phone outlet--I think we'll take this chance, move to broadband, and maybe go to Vonage to keep our long-distance bills down. Anyone out there with Vonage experience?)

And, of course, before we can do that, we have to get the garage (the half that we use for actual storage) cleaned up so we can get the couch and stuff out there. It's going to be a long process, but hopefully we can make some sort of dent into it this weekend.

Poker tonight, which I actually should be able to attend. Lots of people seem to be up in arms about the points. For those not in the PPT, the last couple of years we've had a point system where you got points based on play and the player with the most points at the end of the year was Player of the Year. Last year, it was based on how many people were there (if you finished 2nd of 10 players, you'd get 9 points), and this year it was going to be a 3-2-1 with an extra point to everyone for attendance. After much discussion, it's now going to be 5-3-2 with an extra point to everyone that shows.

Personally, I don't care. I'm not good enough to be in the PoY running, plus I'll miss a lot of games. I'm just there to have fun, which is basically the point of the evening in my mind. If you can't have fun for 4 hours on a Friday, why are you in the league? Why worry about it all throughout the week? I'm waiting for Ken to say, "It's my game, this is how it is going to be." And he'd be perfectly justified in doing it.

Got to catch up on the first four hours of 24 last weekend. Jack is back! It was a great start to another year. I've not gotten to see last Monday's episode yet, but I'm sure we're in for a wild ride this season. It's that and then Lost when it starts back up Feb. 7 and that's the only TV I'll be really watching. Until baseball season, that is! Which, with all my drafts and other stuff going, I really can not wait for.

Have a great weekend!
