The softball team got a much needed win last night. After losing the game described in the last entry, we only scored one run in a loss last Monday night as well. So after three games, Off Road Tire had scored 20 runs. Which is OK, save the fact that 18 of them were in the first game.
It looked like more of the same story last night. The first three innings, no runs showed up on the scoreboard. I felt like it was probably a matter of time, though, because the balls were being hit hard, just right at people. If you continue to hit them hard, they are eventually going to start dropping in.
Still, we were down 5-1 in the fourth and things weren't looking all that wonderful. However, we were able to string some hits together and load the bases with nobody out before the opposing pitcher really lost his feel and walked in two runs. After that, we just kept the carousel going, with almost every hit scoring a run and then leaving another one ready to score.
By the end of the inning, we were up 11-5. Two more in the fifth and then two in the sixth completed the run-rule win. I didn't get into the game, but did my part by waving guys home from third base. I especially enjoyed sending Kevin on a ball hit to center, after he had done the same to me earlier in the year. I'm pretty sure he thought I was nuts for sending him, but he did score easily and, as far as I know, didn't pass out in the dugout.
We've got a double header on Thursday, so I expect my 1.000 batting average won't hold for too much longer!
