It's so true that you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone. I knew after going through the whole GB ordeal, it'd probably be a while before I stopped being astonished or giddy over some basic things. For example, I can sit listening to someone and be rolling my ankle or tapping my toes and just get a silly grin on my face, realizing how recently that those kind of movements were only daydreams.
Yesterday was one of those kind of days. I went out in the backyard with Benjamin and took a crack at swinging the Wiffle ball bat. It was a great joy to make contact with the ball and not pitch face first into the grass. Benjamin had a great time as well, chasing after the balls, watching our dog run around after them, and taking his turn with the bat. He even through a couple of pitches I was able to hit, which surprised me. He couldn't grasp swinging the bat at the ball, though he did conk himself in the head once, but that didn't faze him.
Started my next organizational project, rounding up the addresses and other information of my group of high school friends. We've stayed in touch over the 14 years since graduation, but it's been a couple of years since I've updated the sheet and hardly anyone's information is the same. I've even enlisted Google Calendar to try to keep all birthdays and such in a place where everyone can see them.
Church meetings tonight, but hopefully they won't run long. I have last night's 24 taped, so I want to be able to watch that after Benjamin has gone to bed.
