Yep, it's me again. I've been fairly busy in the "Cardinal Nation" portion of my online life that I've not gotten over here to blog. Time to change that!
Spring really does seem to have come. Today's a gorgeous, sunny day with a high around 80. While it's supposed to cool off some next week, between this and spring training baseball going on, winter is just about out of the way.
Since my last blog, I played poker once, though there was little in the way of interesting news out of it. I had a lot of second-best hands. I made a full house, only to lose to quads. That sort of thing. The final hand, I pushed in with AJ and Joe called with AQ. Both a Jack and a Queen came up on the board and I was home fairly early. Playing again tonight, so hopefully it'll be a better outcome.
Had to take Sarah to the emergency room last Saturday night. She woke up crying like something hurt and, being that she'd run a bit of a fever most of Saturday, we figured we better get it checked out. Of course, that would happen on the weekend. If it'd been Sunday night, we'd have gotten an appointment first thing Monday morning. But with another day on the weekend, we didn't want to risk it.
She and I stayed in the emergency room for about three hours. They gave her some Motrin at 2:30 (we got there around 1:45 or so) and wanted to wait and see if she felt better. Finally, around 4, the doctor says (without looking at her, really) she seems fine, here's your prescription. She had a little bit of an ear infection and, what was really bothering her I expect, an inflamed throat.
She and I didn't make it to church, of course, but she's doing better now. She's just dealing with the messy aftereffects of being on antibiotic. She has another four days (counting today) and then hopefully all those diapers will return to normal.
In case you were wondering, the two campi idea I wrote about earlier passed the vote with flying colors. Approximately 80% of those voting were for it, which makes it much easier to get things done. I've agreed to help get a lot of the details, etc. on the project lined out, so things could be busy in the next few months.
Speaking of church projects, the annual BBQ is on for May 1. If you are in the area, be ready to come get some chicken! You won't find a better deal on a meal anywhere!
Benjamin is signed up for his first year of tee ball. The teams are "drafted" on Sunday, so we should soon find out what his team color is, where he will practice, and when his games will be. I'll put the schedule up on the side in case anyone is in the area and wants to watch a future Hall of Famer in action. :)
Church softball is looking a little doubtful this year. The operating funds aren't there to pay the entry fee, so we may be looking at a fundraiser or something if there still is enough demand. I hope we get to play--it's always a lot of fun. Well, save for when someone's running up the score on us.
My goal this weekend is to get some computer stuff working and cleaned out. If I do that, maybe I can get some pictures up!
