This blog post is mainly to see if what I set up today works and that it'll post on my Facebook page when a new post here has been written. Just another way for people to stay in touch with what's going on here!
Honestly, though, there's not been all that much going on. I've started working the longer hours most people associate with accountants and this time of year. I spent last week on a bank audit and will probably spend next week on one as well. Keeping up with my Cardinal blog and my Cardinal blogger group that I've started. We've got a internet talk radio show as well every other week and we've had some big name (in Cardinal fandom) guests. (If you want to hear my voice on them, here's a link to the last one.)
Meron's done a few things this year. She got a night out with the mommy group last Tuesday, going to dinner while I took care of the evening routine with the kids. She also went to see that Twilight movie yesterday afternoon. As with most males, that's one thing I had no interest in seeing, but ever since she started reading the books she's been very excited about the prospect. So she went, had a good time, and everyone's happy.
The kids are just spending time playing, going to TLC, etc. Sarah actually started showing interest in using the potty, so we got the training one out of the garage when I emptied/rearranged it Saturday afternoon. She's actually gone on it a couple of times, which is more than Benjamin had even though of at that stage in his life. We're not actively training her, but we'll keep letting her go on it if she continues to show interest.
Benjamin is just staying Star Wars focused. He went to his best buddy Micah's party last week and was excited to be able to pick out a Yoda and a Star Wars book for him. Those two are playing Star Wars just about every time they get together.
Big discussions going on at church about some large changes. I've been in the vocal minority (well, at least I've been vocal) about the changes in the past, but this time, with the idea of putting a second service out at Tech's Wesley Foundation, I'm on the pro side. It makes so much sense for Wesley to try this, especially since the conference/district is going to wind up footing the bill for a few years. We'll have to change our regular worship time, but to me that's a small sacrifice for potentially doubling our membership.
Played poker a week ago Friday. One of my better nights, though of course I fell just short of the money. Still, with ten people there, a fourth place finish is pretty good for me. Not too many memorable hands, though I did hold QJ when the flop came AK10 late. I pushed all in and, though Mike thought about it, he wasn't quite convinced to call. Then I violated the "play tight on the bubble" theory when I matched Russell's all-in with J9. He had Q8, both of us paired on the flop, but his Qs held up to beat my 9s. I was dead man walking from there.
I'll try to get some pictures and video up later in the week, if I can!
