Everyone is improving health-wise. Benjamin went to the doctor on Friday and they prescribed an antibiotic, but due to what was happening to his sister (see below) and the potential regression of his potty training, plus the fact that his cough was pretty sporadic anyway, we haven’t given it to him. He’s barely coughing now, so it seems a case of perhaps being a little too free with the antibiotics.
Sarah has finished up hers, but has spent the weekend dealing with the biggest side effect. She and Meron stayed home from church Sunday because we didn’t feel like inflicting that on the nursery workers. I told Meron that if they ever came up with a baby antibiotic that was gentle, the diaper manufacturers wouldn’t let them make it. We’ve probably gone through half a box of diapers in the last couple of days. Her posterior is very red, though hopefully now that she’s off the antibiotics, everything will gradually get back to normal.
And Meron’s ear has cleared up as well, so all’s good on that front.
I’m still battling my normal sinus/drainage junk that I get this time of year. Not bad enough that I need to complete the Shoptaw collection down at the doctor’s, however!
Poker Friday night went well. Came in 5th of 11 but played fairly solid most of the night, I felt like. I don’t remember any huge hands that I shouldn’t have gotten into. I did fold pocket fives one time that would have knocked out one player and crippled another, which I kicked myself a bit for. I finally saw K-J suited and raised. Everyone folded but Charles, who went all in. I was pretty much committed (he had me covered) so I called. He had A-Q and the board didn’t help at all. Still, a decent showing.
If you’ve not seen, my Cardinal blog has moved from Wordpress to Blogs By Fans. It’s a blog network that has various sporting blogs in it. Check it out if you have the time and inclination.
Baseball season is coming! Benjamin lists about five teams that he likes. The Cardinals take overarching priority, of course, but he also likes the Rangers, the Reds (his Grandpa Mike’s team), the Blue Jays (because that’s where Scott Rolen is now) and the Pirates (because, well, they are pirates). And he already knows enough to not care for the Cubs!
Fantasy baseball season is coming too. I’m working on two teams over at CardsClubhouse, I’ve got another one to start drafting next week, and my big keeper league is preparing for its draft at the end of March. It’s a wonderful time of year!
February gets busy with tax season to go along with Valentine’s Day and Meron’s birthday. This year, Meron made it easy and said that she wanted the kids’ pictures professionally taken. So that’s what we are going to do, assuming I can get around to getting it arranged. We’ll try to scan and post some pictures when we get them back.
How is it possible that one month of ’08 is already gone? This is crazy!
